This post is in continuation to discussion related to Nosodes their usage and potencies in Group – MM Tips by Dr Saurav Arora, (See paper on Use of Nosodes here)
Now, as per my understanding of the subject over couple of years (still learning) the following points can be considered:
- It has been preconceived that Nosodes should not be used in low potencies. This is not true entirely and can be further understood as:
- Few decades back when nosodes were either introduced or used less frequently their usage was with much of a fear (new remedy or diseased product etc), therefore, just to avoid any unfavourable situations homeopaths started using them in high potencies (and afraid to use sub-physiological doses like “x”)
- Also, few decades back the highest potencies were not beyond 200cH (as you can see in William Boericke’s Materia Medica) that 30cH is recommended as high potency almost everywhere and rarely 200cH at some places). Except for Kent’s Materia Medica and Philosophy teachings high potencies did not jump to 200cH even. But as on today we use 30cH, 200cH as medium potencies. Therefore, Nosodes were advised to use in high potencies (at that time) which in today’s context turns out to be medium potencies.
- We know that as soon as a remedy attains decimal 12 or centesimal 6 it surpasses the Avogadro’s constant therefore, no original material substance remains (except nano particulates, nano particles and entropy) in potencies beyond this step. Therefore, even Crotalus, Lachesis, Nux, Aconite etc. become safer, dynamic remedies with each passing dilution. So, is the case with Nosodes! – They are potentized just like any other remedy be it inert or highly reactive.
- As with each passing year our Materia Medica, remedies and our understanding of homeopathy is advancing, we now knows the symptomatology of many clinically used nosodes therefore, their usage can be done in low potencies with confidence. But what if we don’t know their exact symptoms or usage – in such cases we use Nosodes as intercurrent, anti-miasmatic etc for which we use so called “high potencies”. In such cases our prescription is based on a theme rather than discrete symptom.
- Research is now advancing – Psorinum has been used in 3x, and 6x potencies in cancer cell lines with much success and safety (Psorinum Therapy). You can just search Psorinum Prof AR Khuda Buksh in google and it shall give you the work done with the lower potencies of Psorinum in research and clinical settings.
It’s all about our understanding, which I think should be in sync with the evolution. Would like to know your thoughts.
