Honoured to be a Panelist at Cambridge University – Exploring “Ancient Wisdom and Modern Health”
It was a privilege to be invited as a Panelist in a thought-provoking discussion titled “Ancient Wisdom and Modern Health”, jointly organised by the Cambridge University Hindu Cultural Society and Sadhak, held at the Yusuf Hamied Theatre, Christ’s College, University of Cambridge, on 05 November 2025.
The event brought together students and scholars from diverse academic backgrounds — including medicine, life sciences, Psychology, Economy etc. — to engage in a meaningful dialogue about how traditional healing systems and modern medical science can complement each other in shaping a more holistic view of health.
The distinguished panel included:
- Dr. Prashant Jindal, leading Refractive Eye Surgeon, UK
- Dr. Deepa Apte, renowned Ayurveda expert and wellness consultant, UK &
- Dr. Saurav Arora, Co-founder, The London College of Homeopathy UK.
The discussion was beautifully woven together by the team CUHCS. The were deliberate discussions on the philosophical and practical aspects of Ayurveda, Allopathy, and Homeopathy, reflecting how ancient wisdom and modern health practices converge in their shared goal — the wellbeing of the human being as a whole, not merely the absence of disease. The panel discussion was divided into 4 sub-sessions namely
- Origins of Healing Systems
- Philosophical Foundations
- Health in Student Life: Case Studies
- Innovation & Integration
- The Future of Healing in Hindu Society
Throughout the sessions, the explored themes and outcomes included:
- The common principles underlying different healing systems – be it any system – the core principle of any medical science is the benefit of an individual as a whole.
- Every system is based on a logic which when resonate with the patient results in either cure, relief or palliation.
- To understand a system – understand the inherent philosophy, how that philosophy is adapted in understanding a patient and how it is applied for the well-being.
- No system is complete, but there are voids and chronic conditions where holistic approach works better than a single system.
- We have entered an era where a patient opts more than one system for holistic health, and we must respect that.
- The role of consciousness, balance, and prevention in health is the key to a healthier society.
- The integration of traditional and modern approaches in today’s evidence-based world is the future.
- Absence of reported studies does not mean absence of research. Our ancient text, philosophies and clinical skills are linked to the evolution of mankind, thus passing from generation to generations. Many a times it written in our books, but seldom researched or reported.
- The next decade of integration is a challenge especially when we wish to run together with different research pace.
- Research is the key, but it should be adapted according the system’s philosophy and not a blind comparison with others.
- Students and healthcare professionals must broaden their mind and conceptually and intellectually study a system rather than reject it.
- We can adopt a more inclusive and compassionate view of medicine, individuality and the individualized outcomes.
- Be open minded, study, understand, explore – before you reject it.
- Key to happiness is the acceptance and satisfaction of achievement.
The audience’s engagement, curiosity, and openness were truly inspiring, and it was heartening to see such enthusiasm for interdisciplinary learning.
A note of gratitude must be given to the organisers — Cambridge University Hindu Cultural Society (CUHCS), Sadhak & Christ University, Cambridge for curating this insightful dialogue that encourages harmony between science and spirituality, tradition and innovation.
Together, we continue to explore how ancient wisdom can illuminate the path for modern health and healing.
